The Night Quillan was Born

It was Tuesday night at about 7:45 PM, when Essie's water broke. She was visiting, Louise, a friend, in Superior Wisconsin. Essie tried calling Nick with no answer on his cell phone. He was in a meeting at church where his cell phone reception was poor, and the phone didn't ring. After a little while Nick's phone beeped to say there was a message. In all there was actually two messages at this time, with frantic messages from Essie.  Nick called her back and quickly rushed out of the meeting and ran home on full sprint, in order to meet her at the hospital. Nick arrived soon after 8:00 PM, to meet her and relieve Louise from her watch. Thanks Louise!

Essie contractions were no more that 2 minutes apart when Nick got to the hospital. Within an hour or two she went from a 5 to a 7 or 8 of dilation. Essie's doctor dropped in for a few minutes to check her out and went home for about 20 minutes. Within that 20 minutes Essie had the sudden urge to push. So, the nurses were calling every doctor they could find because they thought the baby was coming quick. By the time Essie's doctor came back we had 2 other doctors as backup.  Essie pushed through some very strong contractions, all without any drugs for pain. She went on and delivered Quillan Samuel in a little over 4 hours at 11:57 PM. We are happy to share our story of the new addition to our family.

God Bless,
Nick, Essie, & Quillan

We are so thankful for his safe arrival.
Does he have alittle red in his hair?
Hope Julie gets to hold him soon.
